姉妹都市グレシャム市から高校生を受け入れました。 Gresham High School Students Visit Ebetsu

グレシャム高校　2年生　エクサビヤ・パントハ・クルズさん、３年生　アイゼイア・メンデズさん　Xavier Pantoja Cruz, 11th Grade, and Isaiah Mendez, Recent Graduate, Gresham High School

　6月25日から7月18日まで、アメリカ合衆国オレゴン州グレシャム市にあるグレシャム高校2年エクサビヤ・パントハ・クルズさんと同校3年アイゼイア・メンデズさんが姉妹都市相互派遣事業の参加者として来江しました。2人はホームステイをしながら、エクサビヤさんがとわの森三愛高校、アイゼイアさんが江別高校に通い、日本の生活や文化を体験しました。

　7月4日にこの事業を主催する江別市都市提携員会（事務局：教育委員会生涯学習課）の案内で、2人は江別市長を表敬訪問し、江別で体験したいことについて話しました。それから、市内見学をしました。江別神社、郷土資料館などを興味津々に見学しました。昼食は、ËBRIにある「KURO～彩～」に行き、とても美味しく食べました。

　ホストファミリーのご協力により、この3週間エクサビヤさんとアイゼイアさんは、とても充実した日々を過ごしました。

　姉妹都市相互派遣事業は、昭和53年（1978）年から開始し、現在まで67人を受入れ、94人を派遣をしています。

Xavier Pantoja Cruz, 11th grade, and Isaiah Mendez, recent graduate of Gresham High School, took part in the Sister City High School Student Exchange Program from June 25 until July 18. While staying with local host families, Xavier attended Towanomori Sanai High School, and Isaiah attended Ebetsu High School. Through this program, they were able to experience Japanese culture and everyday life.

On July 4, the two students paid a visit to the mayor of Ebetsu and told him about what they would like to experience while in Ebetsu. After that, they went on a tour of the city organized by the Ebetsu Sister City Committee. They visited Ebetsu Shrine and the Ebetsu City Local History Museum, and showed much interest in the history and culture of the area. For lunch, they enjoyed Hamburg steak at "KURO ~Sai~," located in ËBRI.

Thanks to the cooperation of their host families, Xavier and Isaiah spent a very fulfilling three weeks here!

The Sister City High School Student Exchange Program has hosted 67 participants in Ebetsu and has sent 94 participants to Gresham since its start in 1978.
